You Didn’t Say You Wanted a Real Pony

If you’ve picked up a paper in the past year, you will know that it has not been good for banks lately.  Well, not good for anyone really.  This is why GMAC, General Motors’s disastrous attempt at a banking arm, needs some big help.  It’s one thing to be a failing bank, they are a dime a dozen.  However, you’re really scraping the bottom when you are an ill-fated bank weighed down by and ill-fated automaker.  This is why GMAC, has gone through a metamorphosis enviable by Houdini himself.  Meet Ally, GMAC rebranded.

Ally has made a big splash with their recent popular television advertising campaign that takes some less-flattering aspects of the banking business and attempts to parody them:

However, is GMAC doing a good job?  If you ask the internet, yes.  Most people are clueless to the fact that Ally is GMAC and GMAC is Ally.  However, the ads are memorable and repeatable.  Therefore they make one heck of a viral campaign.  What makes it so good is that the commercials were shot without actors. The kids were told that they were to come in to play. The expressions were real, and they worked to capture the attention of the viewers and spiral them through the internet. What do you think?
